Many products are labeled with wholesome-sounding all natural promise, but because it’s not something regulated by the FDA, it’s important to know how to read labels. WARNING – READ YOUR LABELS:
- Water (Dilutes, Filler, makes product cheap)
- Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate (synthetic detergent)
- Stearic Acid (hardener)
- Sodium Tallowate (sodium salt of cow fat)
- Sodium Isethionate (detergent/emulsifying agent)
- Sodium Stearate (emulsifier, also used as a cheap stabilizer in plastics)
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine (synthetic surfactant, associated with irritation and allergic contact dermatitis)
- Sodium Cocoate or Sodium Palm Kernelate (sodium salts of coconut or palm kernel oils)
- Fragrance (synthetic scent, potential allergen, common skin irritant)
- Sodium chloride (table salt used as a thickener)
- Tetrasodium EDTA (stabilizer, used in industrial cleaning products to decrease hard water, skin irritant)
- Tetrasodium Etidronate (preservative, a chemical that is used in soaps to prevent soapscum)
- Titanium dioxide (whitener, also used in house paint)
- Propylene Glycol (active ingredient in engine coolants and antifreeze; airplane de-icers; polyurethane cushions; paints, enamels and varnishes; and in many products as a solvent or surfactant)
